Radiobiological rationale for RT–drug interaction
Radiosensitizing in HH-dependent tumors (reverses GLI1-driven repair/stemness/repopulation), partly p53-dependent (Teichman et al., PLoS One, 2018; Zhang et al., Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2023; Gan et al., Cancer Research, 2014). Where GLI signaling also supports normal epithelial/stem compartments, a theoretical increase in mucocutaneous adverse events is possible.
