Radiobiological rationale for RT–drug interaction
Radiosensitizing on theoretical grounds (↑p53, ROS/DNA damage, ↑apoptosis), unlike radioprotective HIF-1α inhibition (Semenza, Pharmacological Reviews, 2025; Bertout et al., PNAS, 2009). Any normal-tissue sensitization is theoretical and undefined; the recognized class effect of hypoxia/anemia could indirectly affect tumor oxygenation but is not an in-field adverse event per se.
The data above refer to patients treated with HIF-2α inhibitor as the sole drug class,
excluding any concurrent use of drugs from other groups.
